One of my interests is * How could this have happened? * What do we need to do to stop it from happening again? I was looking at INV900 source code and the documentation in SSARUN03, and I wondered about the possibility that I had keyed a wrong date on the prompt screen.

Now seems to me that these end fiscal programs do not use the date they are run to calculate where to cut-off their respective data, but the date keyed into their respective prompt screens.

For us, that should be the end date of the current GLD fiscal period, which this weekend was 8/28/04 ... actually I did some of the 900 jobs on 8/28 and some in the wee hours of 8/29 and some of the reports 8/27 nite.

Had the 900 jobs been programmed to be friendly to our reality, the date prompt screen might default to the end date from the current fiscal period, and if the user keys in a date that is rather distant from today's date (like a keying error), it would come back with an "Are you sure?" and some command key to accept the distant date.

But looks to me from the source code I studied so far, it does not do any of that. All it checks is if the user accidentally left the cut-off date blank/zero.

Now the SSARUN03 said an interesting thing about this date. It sounds like it is entered into some ZPA record for the purpose of being somewhere for INV900 logic to access when it is doing its work. That means there should be some evidence there what date I in fact used.

My memory is that I keyed 8/28/04 every place I was supposed to.
But humans make mistakes, and memories can be flawed.

I looked in the ZPA file & it not obvious which one has it. I went looking in the CL code to try to trace where that is. It not obvious easy ... however, looks like it is using some code that got fixed in the Y2K without delivering the source code on that.

Can someone point me to what ZPA record, and what is its layout, that contains whatever date was last used by INV900?

Also, it looks like the only records it kept were for items that have been deleted.
