There is also a developement done by SSA Canada called Catchweight which allows you to define a product as a weighted product and tracks the products movement with qty & weights in the Stock & Sales files. I here this has been included in version 8.2 as standard. You may contact me off-line if you require more information. We're on 6.01.01 and I think it's just setting up stocking (LB) UOM and selling (KG) UOM for the item, defining the conversion factor (INV120B) and letting the system handle the rest. I've had to modify some of the reports (BOL, packing list) to handle customer requirements on what they see on the paperwork, but it's nothing major. We are opening a new facility in Canada that will work with KG. They will manufacture and distribute all their products in KG. Our Canadaian customers will order in KG from both our Canada and US warehouses. How can I define items in BPCS to accomodate for both needs? The idea I had was to create duplicate items with a suffix of some sort for the KG managed items. When our Canadian facility or customers order it from us in the USA we would create orders in KG and debit inventory in LB in the US warehouse (using the selling U/M conversion factor from the Item Master). When they receive it in BPCS at our facility in Canada they would need to convert it to the KG based item so that it can be received and managed in KG in their inventory. Is there a better way to handle this?
