Chris, There are two program aspects to the product. One sits on the AS/400, and feeds the transactions into and out of BPCS. These programs do all the normal validation that the regular BPCS processes do. There is no need to modify these programs at all. The second aspect sits on the plant site servers, and is a simple to use scripting interface that consists of only a couple of dozen verbs. There is a one or two day course to educate a programmer how to use it. It is extremely straight forward after an initial exposure. All of the transactions that the users will be interfacing with are written and are maintainable through this interface. The product comes with a plethora of initial programs that serve as a fully functional, out-of-the-box interface for most of the common applications into BPCS. We have also created custom applications for our environment via this method. For some, we did it our selves, for others we opted to get a consultants help to speed things up, but consultants are a luxury and not a necessity. PGloekler@integratedtechnologies.com would be a good contact to start with, as he has sales and service reporting to him. He could get you in touch with whomever would be best to answer your concerns. Good luck - feel free to contact me off-line if you wish. We started out with Quicktrac, which worked ok but have since upgraded to the far more robust Cyposoft product and we have taken it beyond data collection to a variety of other things. We even have the ability to create shop orders on the plant floor from a hand scanner if we want to. So far the Cyposoft stuff has been working beautifully. I like the ability to map any AS400 screen to kick off reports or review data. We were happy with dcServ, but are thrilled with the performance characteristics of the new ADC release. You can call me at 828.879.6620 if you would like to discuss the product from a user point of view. -----Original Message----- From: Jeff Young [mailto:jyoung@haynesintl.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 04, 2003 10:34 AM To: SSA's BPCS ERP System Subject: Re: Requesting Info on Bar Code Data Collection Software for BPCS we are starting to look too.... no contacts yet Debra Ivey wrote: > My company is in the process of choosing bar code data collection software. > If anyone has had experience with any of the following bar code data > collection packages and would be willing to discuss them offline, please > email me at divey@redgold.com. > > RTDCS - RT-CIM > Nutech - Viewpoint for BPCS > Integrated Bar Code Systems - Cyposoft > > Thanks, > > Debra Ivey > App. Dev.
