John > This site is running BPCS 5.01.01 and is upgrading the AS/400 OS to > V5R1..... any issues?? Problems??? Gotcha's??? The first issue you need to be alert to is that version of BPCS is outside of standard tech support & has been since before Y2K, so it is important to know what Y2K solution used & check with the vendor of that. BPCS 5 point anything, out of the box, was not Y2K compliant. You might also check with your client to see what outfit they use for standard BPCS tech support. Past posts here have mentioned a number of 3rd party BPCS support organizations that serve the market of BPCS customers that are on version 5 point something. Second topic is that IBM & SSA in concert maintain a set of reccommended PTFs to go with each version of OS/400 to optimize BPCS performance. I not have the URL handy ... it has been in the archives of this discussion group. Basically it does not matter what version BPCS you have or what version OS/400 you going to, there are some PTFs you will need from IBM. You will have to take that with a grain of salt because IBM & SSA is keeping this information current for the official versions of BPCS. Those that were dropped from SSA support years ago - they may have additional or different concerns. The post here from Genyphyr Novak gave better directions than I to this APAR. If this whole subject is new to you, there might be value to you in knowing about IBM's Redbook for BPCS Performance ... Chapter 6 I believe has some info on migrating from Version 405 CD to Version 6.1 & you are in the middle of that perspective. http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg245410.html MacWheel99@aol.com (Alister Wm Macintyre) (Al Mac)
