As you have seen from several posts, there are several ways you can go with this, depending on what works for your BPCS version & what your corporate staff is comfortable with ... I have found that when people are not comfortable, you end up with different people solving the same challenge different ways which invites confusion. Another "solution" is for the M123 ITEM # to have 11.123 in DESCRIPTION Then in all documents that go to your customer, you print the description. Shipping documents Acknowlegements Schedule projections Cartons & Boxes containing the product For example, we have stuff from our shop floor and the actual product is sometimes labeled Identify all places, that label the items, that go to the customer make sure that all include description, whether or not item also there 100% show the description The customer sees what they want to see. You might consider 100% also show the item Because your people also see the same paperwork flow. You keep your system simple. MacWheel99@aol.com (Alister Wm Macintyre) (Al Mac)
