Do not install V4R4 on an 820 system. You will be doomed to failure.
You will need to have either V4R5 or V5R1 base OS on the system.
However, this depends on the model 820 that was purchased, it may only
work with V5R1.

Now, there is a way to do what IBM calls a "slip install" which allows
you to go from V4R5 (old system) to V5R1 (new system). IBM Backup and
Recovery in Rochester recommends the old system is at V4R5, before doing
this. V4R4 may work to V5R1 on a different system (820), but "your
mileage may vary".

I have done these "slip installs" and they work slick. This "slip
install" is documented in B & R Guide.
