When we originally converted to BPCS (which was very long ago), I remember SSA supplying us w/ some programs to upload some of our legacy data into the BPCS environment, such as G/L accounts, Item Master, etc. I believe they were CIM programs (although we do not have the CIM module)... I'd check w/ SSA or see if you can find some of the conversion programs you may have used from day 1 of BPCS (if not too long ago). Good luck DeeDee Virgei Nelson Stud Welding, Inc. 7900 West Ridge Rd Elyria, OH 44036 -----Original Message----- From: Mike_Cechal@fmo.com [mailto:Mike_Cechal@fmo.com] Sent: Friday, November 30, 2001 10:12 AM To: BPCS-L@Midrange.com Subject: cloning an environment in 6.0.02 mixed mode I need to create a new BPCS environment for a new plant that will be very similar to our existing environment setup. The new environment needs to mimic the existing plant's GL, including account numbers, alias, events, INV transactions effects, MRP parameters, but will have all new part numbers, BOMs, routers, etc. I'm thinking of possibly copying the existing environment's data into a new library to maintain the GL and MRP setup, and then manually deleting all of the transaction history, item master, inventory locations, routers, orders, vendors, POs, etc. Or, would starting from scratch avoid a lot of headaches, even though the initial setup would take longer? Any other issues on the "cloning" method that would need to be addressed? I realize that there are going to be issues with getting the proper data areas, JOBDs, LIBLs, etc, but I think those are easy to deal with. _______________________________________________ This is the SSA's BPCS ERP System (BPCS-L) mailing list To post a message email: BPCS-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/bpcs-l or email: BPCS-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/bpcs-l.
