the factors that affect the BOM900 are simply the size and complexity of your B/M file. as best as i can tell, the first thing that BOM900 does is to set all low-level codes to zero. it then starts at the first part and does a b/m explosion and checks the low level codes of the components. if they are not correct it sets them and then explodes that component. it continues this process until it has gone through all possible parent parts. the key thing is that if you have multiple levels of bill of material, and use common subassemblies, BOM900 can explode those common subassemblies hundreds of time during it's processing. since it rebuilds the entire file, it's run time does not depend upon activity against the B/M as much as it does based upon the size, complexity, and modularity of the B/M file. chick doe barton instrument systems >>> BNorris@wittern.com 10/03/01 10:34AM >>> Dana, We are on 6.04 and when we initially started running MRP we found that with the number of BOM additions/changes that were being input into the system, we needed to run it on a regular basis. We now run BOM900 every weekend so that the monday morning MRP gen is as clean as possible. I believe that if you run it on a regular basis (weekly/monthly - depending on the number of BOM changes)it should not take as long to run. Beth A. We needed to run BOM900 yesterday in order to resequence low level codes and allow MRP600 to plan properly. The last time we needed to do this was literally years ago. Anyone know what causes the low level codes to need this action? Anyone run BOM900 on a regular schedule? If so, why and how often? Thanks for any help. dana.m.buker@dupontpharma.com Dana Buker IR Sr Project Leader LR3N5 302-992-4724 dana.m.buker@dupontpharma.com _______________________________________________ This is the SSA's BPCS ERP System (BPCS-L) mailing list To post a message email: BPCS-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/bpcs-l or email: BPCS-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/bpcs-l. _______________________________________________ This is the SSA's BPCS ERP System (BPCS-L) mailing list To post a message email: BPCS-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/bpcs-l or email: BPCS-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/bpcs-l.
