UPI web site describes several BPCS add-ons where you take MRP data to PC &
massage your planning there then bring the data back again, they also have
some MRP add-on products.

From their home web page - select Products & Services - then Bells & Whistles
- and then look at both what is there & the OTHER category.

I can cite other 3rd party sites with BPCS add-on products ...
I just not remember off hand which of them have MRP add-ons.

We have had some scenarios where SOME customers intermittently supply a 6
month forecast .. this is not data they regularly supply, just every few
months. We also have customers with estimated annual usage for the parts
they regularly order from us.

Thus we have customers with no forecasting, incomplete forecasting,
intermittent forecasting, and periodic interest by the personnel seeing this
stutt, in how can we use this to help us with our MRP planning.

Well BPCS supports Simulations, and alternative Environments.
We could copy the live MRP to one of these places to be combined with the
unofficial estimates for projecting estimated material planning.

Ideally we want to be able to key in this forecast data for a customer & then
turn it on or off to run related reports, then when a new forecast comes out
for a customer, wipe out the old one we entered & replace that customer's
forecast with the new one, while leaving the other customer's guesses intact.

The rate of engineering changes also needs to be factored into this picture.

We might not be doing everything right, but our DRP orders are replicated in
the Customer Order files, and that works for us.
