We have been using a product from Bottomline Technologies called Paybase to produce our checks complete with the format, contact information based on plant location, bank MICR codes and insert the appropriate signatures. Our check stock is totally blank - and doesn't need to be stored in a secure location. You do need a special printer to print the MICR code and the signatures and magnetic ink cartridges. We've modified the BPCS check print program to do exactly what you asked - pick up the next available check number from the bank master file. It works great. The concept of prenumbered check stock went out many years ago. We successfully used Bottomline Technologies software for many years with Infinium - before our BPCS implementation. They have many features including bank reconciliation, electronic payment transfer, etc. Definitely use them to compare features and cost. Their 800 number is: (800) 839-9029. Good luck! Kathy A. The process as far as we can see requires that you have prenumbered check stock, and once the checks have physically printed, you inform the system of the numbers you used. Has anyone out there implemented BPCS AP and been able to produce and print checks on un-numbered check stock, having BPCS print the check numbers based on the next available check number from the Bank Account Master file. Thanks in advance for any ideas anyone has...
