Environment: BPCS 6.0.04, Full Client/Server, July Cumulative, numerous BMR explosions applied with several other BMRs in testing, minimal customization (reformatting checks, POs, SOs, invoices, etc.). My Controller wants inventory valuation using the GAAP FIFO method. I checked the BPCS-L archives and found a thread from April 1998 for this very issue. In summary, it said that BPCS does not directly support this and it has been implemented as a customized supplemental costing system which did not replace the BPCS standard costing functions. It was not an "on-line costing" solution, but a "periodical (monthly) batch costing". The post went on to recommend using "Lot-based costing, which is similar to FIFO and several degrees easier to implement". Is this still the state of the art solution for this requirement? Are there any new "bolt ons" to address this issue?
