  • Subject: RE: Erroneous Balances in ILI/IWI
  • From: "Bailey, Dick" <Dick_Bailey@xxxxxxxx>

I respect the opinions of all who have responded to my posting and
thank them, but I have to ask - Why do we keep talking about doing re-orgs
to get the files in synch instead of fixing the causes? The one cause we
found this week generated at least 40% of the out-of-balance conditions I
found Monday night (by query), and with lots of help OGS has been searched
and an Incident Number has been established and we're looking for a fix from
SSA shortly.

Our re-orgs over the past 6 months have locked in place incorrect
balances for at least 200 item numbers (found so far) and we have fixed 25
more that got generated during May. Correcting those is going to take a lot
of work.

        Dick

that the
                > ILI and IWI are not identical. You will need to run
INV970 and INV972 (IN
                > THIS ORDER) right after month end. Please note (I MEAN
RIGHT AFTER MONTH
                > END). Don't ever run this at any other time.
                >

                > Marc Lacelle

Regarding your point about INV970 & INV972 in that order &
only right after
month end, I ask that you review WHY this should never be
run at any other
time, and should they always be joined at the hip.

Was the suggestion to run INV970 then INV972 with respect to
Dick Bailey's
problem, or should INV972 always be run after we do INV970 &
what are the
                consequences if we do not?

How about running INV972 without INV970 in the picture - is
that a problem?

We have INV970 on our EOM menu as an optional step & often
many months go
between runs. We do it when people responsible for
inventory management
remember to complain to accounting, rather than MIS which
has very little
clout with accounting, when they need to have locations with
zero inventory
cleared off their reports & inquiries. This should not be
run in a month in
which we are doing physical inventory & it is extremely
helpful if it is done
the month before a physical inventory. I also think it is a
generally good
thing to get rid of locations with no recent activity to
help overall system
                access performance.

Our reorg menu includes INV971 then INV972 ... which I run
normally about
once a week, but also when I get a complaint from users that
we have data out
of sync such as the upper right corner of INV300 not adding
up right, or
                negative allocations.
