  • Subject: BPCS 6.02/6.04/6.1

We currently have two facilities on BPCS 6.02, three facilities on 6.04, and
two facilities will go live in 2-3 months (currently piloting 6.04). Given
the problems with 6.02, we are looking at two options:

(1) upgrade the 6.02 facilities to 6.04, and keep everyone on 6.04 for a
couple of years, then go to a newer version (if BPCS is still viable then).
(2) upgrade everyone to 6.1 starting with the 6.02 facilities this year, and
upgrade the rest to 6.1 next year.

Our modifications to BPCS are mostly reports; few inquiry screens; and minor
interfaces to three other systems... We want to have everyone on the same
version (for obvious reasons). Option 1 is more appealing because effort
is significantly less...

Can anyone please provide information as to why we should go through all the
trouble now to go with option 2 ...

Thanks,
David
