We did this by making the alternate item a 'phantom'...with the other item as a child in the bom or visa versa...anyway... if phantom is on stock..it will be used...if not on stock...mrp/sfc will 'blow-thru'..(good phrase that one, almost as good as 'sunset'..another SSA classic),and use the child item...only draw back is phantom is at item master level...and from memory, i think it did some weird things on cost roll-up...manufacturing where over the moon...accountants where a bit cheesed off...advise you test first. (nb..this was at 4.004....never tried it at ver 6%.) -----Original Message----- From: Ron Hudson <roxrhud@colaik.com> To: BPCS-L@midrange.com <BPCS-L@midrange.com> Date: 15 March 2000 20:02 Subject: Alternate Item in Bill of Material???? > > >Ver 6.0.2; Green Screen > >Might sound crazy, but is there anyway to have an alternate item for a component >in a bill of material.
