Try defining the "alternate" as a phantom. Define the component as a "child" on the phantom item. When you have the "alternate" on hand, MRP should use that, and not plan to order the component. However, when there is not enough "alternate" on-hand, MRP will tell you to place an order for the component. Used in this manner, MRP will never create demand for the "alternate". Heritz/SB/CroweChizek/US) | | Subject: Alternate Item in Bill of Material???? | >----------------------------------------------------------------------------| Ver 6.0.2; Green Screen Might sound crazy, but is there anyway to have an alternate item for a component in a bill of material. I know we can change the component when the shop order is created, but we would like to have it as part of the BOM so that MRP/MPS will not instruct us to order the component when the alternate item is available.
