     Performance tip

The order of the "WHERE" clauses in your SQL statements should
correspond wherever possible to the order of the keys in existing
logical files. They will still work without considering this, but on
big files the I/O(and hence processing time) will be enormous.

Example. BPCS V6.004 has an SQL update statement to the EIL file in
either program BIL530B or BIL540B. This statement has no corresponding
logical file. Before a new logical access path was added, the program
was accessing 1 million+ records(the whole file) to update one record.

    Hello to all,

Looking for suggestions or directions to either books or classes,
etc.,
that teach you beginning level SQL, then to build on further learning.

This is a result of first time exposure to BPCS programming language
        called AS/SET.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

        Thanks,
        Sandy
