Just for the record here, I'd like to point out that the GSB file in 6.002 and 6.004 doesn't have any "entries" in it. It is merely the monthly SUMMARY of all entries posted to a particular Internal Account Number (IAN). The file is keyed by Ledger, Book, Year, Period, and IAN. For each IAN there is a SBDRAM (Debit) and SBCRAM (Credit)which represents the monthly total of all Debits and Credits. There is no way to look at this file and tell if a particular entry is posted once or one thousand times. When I read the first post about the issue I casually suggested that the poster run CEA971 to correct the problem but now that I think about it, I suspect the poster may have been having problems with duplicate records in this file. In other words two or more records with the same Ledger, Book, Year, Period, and IAN. If that is the case then SQL is probably not a good way to fix this problem. I would suggest using SQL to identify the duplicate records then use a Select Unique statement or preferably use DBU or DFU to correct the duplicate records. I hope this helps better than my original post. --Paul Holstein SSASE ----Original Message Follows---- From: MacWheel99@aol.com Reply-To: BPCS-L@midrange.com To: BPCS-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: GSB and GLH Date: Sat, 11 Sep 1999 22:55:16 EDT > I know only do it using SQL or DFU. Be very careful ... when you change BPCS data base files via SQL or DFU, you are going outside of the BPCS software. El Typo can cause serious harm. Using SQL & DFU should only be in an emergency to repair accidental damage, not normal practice to change BPCS records. > one journal entry in GSB twice Check the sign - are the two entries positive & negative same number? Accounting normally uses double entry book keeping ... every entry is supposed to get dual postings. > Our machine have very bad response time. That is a separate issue ... state your hardware model details & type of processing you are doing & I am sure many performance experts will have great advice.
