Manages IT function, and is accountable for the effective operation of all IT resources throughout North America, whether AS/400 or PC-based. 2. Responsible for reliable and efficient AS/400 operations, including hardware maintenance and repair; BPCS, Lotus Domino, AS/400 operating system, and other software installation, operation, training and troubleshooting; local and remote terminal communications; and control of the company's hardware and software assets. 3. Provides regular reports from the BPCS system to support business operations, and develops ad hoc queries as requested. Coordinates use of corporate IT or external resources as required to ensure prompt and cost-effective resolution of user issues. Provides regular reports and ad hoc queries from the BPCS system as requested. Administers systems and procedures to ensure integrity and efficient transfer of data between remote users and systems and the AS/400 BPCS database. Provides training to orient new users and to continually enhance the skills of the existing user community. Responsible for preparing hardware and software used in training sessions. Responsible for administrative control of all the IT resources of the company, whether hardware, software, or operating procedures. Maintains effective working relationships with external vendors providing hardware and software services to the company. Manages external consultants and contractors who provide IT services to the company. Works with the corporate parent's IT staff to ensure that IT policies are consistently administered; that user manuals and documentation of procedures are current; that PC usage is in accordance with corporate guidelines; and that E-Mail and internet access are implemented in accordance with corporate standards. Provides divisional support for system modifications being implemented by corporate IT. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly manages the Senior PC Specialist, and indirectly the PC Help Desk Coordinator and the Computer Operator. Manages the IT function through his direct reports. Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; resolving problems.
