 I too found IBM's announcement interesting.  But upon further reflection 
realized what it probably means.  As a digression, there has been mention that 
SSA has a new configurator and that it seems to be more accurate.  This 
probably feeds into the guarantee: They now have a much better grasp on what it 
is going to take to run the software correctly (translation: it's going to cost 
a heck of a lot more up front).  But I think the one thing that is not 
mentioned is how is the guarantee enforced?  Most likely weeks of performance 
gathering and reporting following by weeks of tweaking followed by weeks of 
arguments about what is acceptable performance, followed by discussions about 
whether the original growth/usage document was filled out honestly/correctly.

The bottom line?  I don't things will be that different with this guarantee.
