<< We are on V6.04 and running ECM which is unbelievably slow- it takes
approx. 7 hours to process 700 orders. Not only does ECM take incredibly
long to process orders, but it degrades the performance of the AS/400 for
all other users and chews up CPU. Apart from this ECM is fairly robust (I
should hope so when processing is so slow). SSA really need to address
 this problem.

It is probably not ECM which is slow, but the order entry programs which are
running behind it. SSA does have a number of BMRs logged against ORD
performance. Some have been completed and others require logical files be
built to let the SQL optimizer work better. I suggest you order some ORD BMRs
and also ask the Helpline about unfinished 'D' BMRs which have logical file
workarounds that you could implement. If you are on RISC you can run DBMON
over the jobs to find logical files to build to improve this.

Thanks
