Joe I have a ton of users struggling with Query/400 - they have learned how to use external files to get at what fields are in what files & what files by names sound like they are involved in their needs, but we have a hard time with structure & which of these fields really have what we need - many reports come up with zero data in them, or inaccurate data, because of timing or selection criteria. It would be helpful to go beyond pure title of file to some kind of a brief explanation of how each file fits into the overall flow of events, and what kind of data retention can be expected & at what point in the flow does the file get populated then un-populated. Probably the most important area is in managing sales history tracking shipping realities & the second most important area to us at present is getting at labor history - where does the scrap go, what happens if the load code is wrong - many people want to track percentage scrap by customer, or by other criteria, but are having a hard time just getting at the scrap in the first place. We have queries that are run at a stage in shipping & billing - they have to be run at a particular step, or the data is lost. > Which areas are you looking for better documentation? > >Check out the alternative BPCS documentation offered by > >http://www.unbeatenpathintl.com/bpcsconsulting.html > > Several key areas that we need > >better documentation for does not appear to be listed on their web page. +--- | This is the BPCS Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to BPCS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to BPCS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to BPCS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: dasmussen@aol.com +---
