I like your upper/lower case solution ... I may
need it some day, as well!
We've had a similar problem (in 4.0.5) with
planner codes. We have multiple manufacturing facilities, and we use the
same planner code with a unique facility. As we do everything by facility,
I can request, for example, an MRP250 report for facility XX, planner code X,
and always get just what I want to see. This at least gives us 36 planners
per facility.
Just an idea = have the field upper
and lower case = 62 companinzation 26 uppercase letters 26 lowercase letters
10 number.
That would be the easy thing to
do.

Running out of Buyer Codes
Has anybody else run out of buyer
codes?
We are using BPCS v6.0.02 and will soon have
more than 36 buyers. As the buyer
code field is 1 character we have exhausted all letters and
numbers and the only solution we can see is
to start assigning '$', '@' etc. as
buyer codes (which will not go down too well with the buyers
themselves and could be mis-interpreted on
the reports and documentation we
produce).
We have sized a modification to allow 2
character buyer codes but the cost of
doing this is prohibitive. Our buyers are aligned by both
commodity and vendor and there do not appear
to be any rules stating which buyer
buys from which vendors for which commodities.
