Tom

Locating specifically what we need can be daunting at times on the internet -
I can suggest 3 other major resources that have helped me.

1. There is a book "The Internet for Busy Users" I got mine from AOL Store &
it is currently out on loan - I forget to whom - it is not in the last few
batches of returned loaners. It basically says "cut the bull, show me how to
use the tools to give me the data I want." But watch out, you can easily
flood your PC with more data than you can use. I have done so on more than
one occasion.

2. There's another book "CyberTools for Business" in which you look up under
type of subject that interests you & get mini-reviews of a ton of URLs within
that category. I also have an older book "Essential Software for Writers"
which addresses challenges of converting documents between different word
processing environments, and the add-on products specific to professions like
Medicine, Engineering, Multi-Lingual, Poets - all over the map of human mental
pursuits.

3. I have been neglecting my Y2K discussion group, with which I had cut &
pasted a reference document - here are the major search engines, how do you
work the AND OR subject specifications to drill down to exactly what we want
without unneccessary baggage & what exactly is the function of the different
kinds of search engines - which types do we use in which circumstances. I did
that because it is still a learning process for me.

I am also still learning what is appropriate to post to this BPCS_L and hope I
have not yet got in trouble as I gently push the envelope.
