Lenny, In a message dated 97-10-28 19:29:35 EST, you write: > Does anyone have any experience with converting AS/SET ADK from version 4.0.1 > to Version 6.0.2. > > What I would like to do is keep my current V4.0.1 environment and have a > V6.0.2 environment with my converted V4.0.1 programs etc in it. Hmmm. Never tried this before, so I'm not sure that it's possible. Conceivably, you could create dup's (with data *YES) of libraries ASSETO, ASSETF, ASSETSAVE, ASSETASP01 (or whatever change management journal library you specified at install) and ASSETGPL -- then change all data areas in the ASSETO duplicate that reference these library names to point at the new ones. Not sure I'd trust it, though. > I am getting different answers from SSA each time I ask. One says I need to > go thru V5.2.01 then convert to V6.0.2. The other says I can do a > Save/Restore on the V4.0.1 stuff directly to V6.0.2. We went through the two phase process for the very reason you mentioned -- different answers every time you call SSA. Both went smoothly (as opposed to the V3 - V4 upgrade). The save/restore answer is probably valid, as this was possible between 3 and 4 where the "@" sign (apologies to International users that can't read the "at" sign) went away from the front of keywords. Better safe than sorry, though. If this works, you'll need to do the same for the ADD libraries -- if you use that piece of, uh, software (I use that term loosely). > I do not want to lose the ability to make mods to V4.0.1 stuff, because these > are production programs. Just make sure that you have a solid (AS/400, not SSA installation-generated) backup of the above libraries in case you need to do an emergency restore. We have over 200 application sets, and experienced no difficulties that I recall. One word of warning -- if you are using the Turnover CMS, make sure that your installed version of the Set/Turn AS/Set Interface will support V6.
