Hi Nadir,

I actually developed the web service on 7.1 and then performed the same setup via the wizard on a 7.3 machine. The vendor who is not an iSeries person (development for the vendor is in JAVA) kept informing me that his WSDL methods keep changing and the port number changed. So that all I can go by.

Thanks you very much for the information, I will try to redeploy the service on 7.3. The real reason I need to redeploy is that when I first wrote the RPGLE process I set the parm being passed back to him as 100k and that fit 99.8% of the data going back to him. The problem is that the variable is not large enough to (due to data) to complete the closing of XML tags and thus he is getting an improperly formatted XML.

Again, thanks for the info.

Thanks,
Ric Turner

Ric, I am not sure what release you are on but latest HTTP group PTFs for
7.2 and 7.3 you can redeploy (not uninstall) a web service to pick up redefinitions.

And whether you uninstall or redeploy, the port number does not change so I am not sure what your problem is as it applies to that.

I would be very interested in the video as well and perhaps the webinar.

I have used the IWS wizard and it is OK, but I have run into the
problem that when I want to re-define the soap web service using the
IWS wizard I am not able to change the soap web service definition
but have to remove it and re-create it which produces a new (and
different) WSDL and port number.

Is there a way to simply change the length of the parm field I use
in my RPGLE pgm within the wizard? I have tried to simply change
the PCML length in the IFS file associated with the web service but
it does not seem to increase it when I run the web service. So,
there must be something in the javabeans that the wizard is changing
that I am not aware of. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
