Wow Joe, lighten up! Attack? Really? I just saw some comments

damage your credibility with these rants.
Eric, you did notice that I corrected my statement, right? I did say it wasn't an "attack".

At the same time it wasn't just "different opinions". Vern accused me of hyperbole and outright misstatements. I deemed it important to correct the record - for credibility's sake. My choice of words was unfortunate and I've since apologized, but I feel very strongly about my writing and think it's important to address such statements.

I just need to phrase my explanations a little more carefully.

(Reminds me of the old Ring Lardner quote "'Shut up,' he explained." <smile>)

I'd wager that most long time users of WDSC have installed CODE/400, for
no other reason than getting Code Designer. Everyone I know that uses
WDSC/Rdi also uses Screen Designer. Why? Because this was the client
development tool IBM gave us!
Not a problem. My experience is different. Most people I know don't use CODE. Some prefer SDA, many like David stick with SEU. My target audience was those people, especially the ones who insist that they can't move frmo the green screen because they don't have an SDA replacement.

I can't debate whether CODE programmers will like Screen Designer because I don't use CODE. I suspect it will be similar to my experience when moving from Visual Age for Java to Eclipse - I HATED it at first, mostly because it didn't do things the way I was used to doing them. However, once I got used to Eclipse, I found it much more intuitive, especially as I used it for other languages. And that's key, I think: things are done similarly throughout the product so that your learning curve for each new components (be it Java, or Screen Designer, or EGL) is shortened because of the consistency.

Anyway, thanks for the input.

Joe
