Chuck, don't know if you solved this but, as it happens, my old ThinkPad T42
was replaced a few weeks ago with a ThinkPad T61. I had the same type of
problem, I think. When "viewing connections", I would see two or three
networks, but 5 seconds later, they'd disappear. This went on back & forth
until I finally killed the ThinkVantage Connections software that was
running in place of the normal Windows' "Wireless Network Connection", which
I re-enabled. Ever since, I've been getting a solid signal.

Did the Toshiba come with some kind of non-Windows' wireless connection
software?
