I couldn't remember if you'd solved this or not, but I found a quite interesting blurb on a website today that sounds applicable. http://www.grc.com/wizmo/wizmo.htm

"Windows' "Wireless Zero Configuration" service periodically drops and restarts wireless connections in a misguides attempt to check for a "better" access point to connect with. Wizmo's "wanlock" command simply stops this service to prevent this annoying behavior."
