My experience has been that the console and your regular Ethernet line cannot share the same resource (CMN03). Also make sure that the correct Ethernet connection on your network card is wired.

Section 9.9 says I have to be connected to the T1 port. That's the problem
there. I was hoping to get connected just being on the VPN.

Like Jim said. Remember you have to have the capability to set the IP
address etc for the 'regular' line from the system console so that concept
requires that the console not connect via the same IP address and line.
There will not be a line description for the console showing in WRKLIND.

Consoles (on supported hardware) are limited to one of two types: HMC and
Lan Console.

Hey, just try section 9.9 at

Art:

You need two distinct connections. One for normal 5250 and another one
for
the console.

Make sure that SST connection is set up for the console too.

No it’s a basic system. Just one partition.

Art, is there an HMC in the mix?

Thanks Rob. I was in the main ACS app. I added the system there
(with
the
main IP correct?) and then went to the console tab and put in the
.58
address. The verify connection didn't work for anything I tried.
