In my experience, people don't typically write subfiles in C/C++ - these languages are usually used to write system tools and the like rather than business applications.

Of course, you can do the same thing in C++ that you would do in any other language -- so find an RPG or Cobol example and just do the C/C++ equivalent -- that's what I'd do.  The _Ropen routine and all of it's related functions provide the same functionality as the corresponding RPG native I/O routines, so a couple of minutes looking them over in the manual is typically all you need.
