Hello all,

I have a customer that is wanting to change from an FTP connection to an
SFTP connection for EDI purposes. It has been hurdle after hurdle as I've
never done anything like this before; but I'm stuck with the latest
hurdle.
The customer is saying they are not recognizing the files as they are
being sent in Binary mode, and to use ASCII mode 'like the FTP
connection'.

The first thing I've found is that there is no ASCII mode in SFTP

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/does-sftp-have-ascii-and-binary-modes-ftp

However then I found this page that seems to indicate you can using inconv
'at the start or end of the sftp transfer '. It offers no examples; so
I'm unclear on what exactly it means by that. It isn't even clear on if
this is for sending files or just received files.
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/zos/2.4.0?topic=client-configuring-sftp

So I'm just trying to figure out is sending SFTP in ascii format even a
thing, and if so how I go about it.
The company is a large company with 1000's of companies connecting to them
so my base assumption is others are managing to do it somehow.

Thanks

Shane Reeves
