The DB built into IBM i is indeed called DB2; DB2 for IBM i specifically.

However, as it is part or the OS, the DB shares the OS version number.

It's not the same as DB2 for Linux/Unix/Windows (LUW) or DB2 for z/OS.

DB2 for i v7.2 (the latest) is not the same as DB2 for LUW 7.2 (assuming
that even existed)
