The PASE ls utility is copied from AIX and it doesn't know anything about
CCSIDs, so that's why it doesn't have a -S option. You would need to use
the ls from QSH (/usr/bin/ls -> /QSYS.LIB/QSHELL.LIB/LS.PGM). You can't
directly call it from PASE though, since it's an ILE program. You'll can
either call QSH from CL to get at it or use the qsh utility from QP2TERM,
eg qsh -c 'ls -S .profile'

What's the QP2TERM(pase) version of qsHell's
ls -S .profile
ls in pase doesn't like the capital S.
ls -S .profile
.profile
$
Lower case s displayed only this
ls -s .profile
8 .profile
$

> ls -?
ls: Not a recognized flag: ?
Usage: ls [-1ACFHLNRabcdefgilmnopqrstuxEUX] [File...]
$

Thanks for the tip on -S, Kevin. I never knew that one.

Joe

What is the CCSID of your .profile? If you created it through QSH or
an
ILE interface it's probably in EBCDIC, which QP2TERM can't understand.

If
you convert it to ASCII, it will work for both QSH and QP2TERM.

QSH:
$
> ls -S .profile
819 .profile
$
> cat .profile
export JAVA_HOME=/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/JavaVM/jdk80/64bit
$
> java -version
java version "1.8.0"
