I have never used anything else, so never gave it another thought. I would want to really trust the vendor and know they will be around for a while, otherwise all you have are meaningless 1s and 0s on those tapes.

I was just told by vendor that IBM has not published the interface info and people can only use IBM TKLM SW to manage keys for tapes.
