Aaron,
Unless you are adding additional processor capability you don't need to do
anything. So if you have IBM i licensed for 1 processor, you can run 10
(Power 7) or 20 (Power7+) partitions without incurring extra licensing
costs.
If you add a processor to it, then it's the cost of IBM i for the one
processor (plus extra software maintenance)
I suspect you do not need to add a processor, but merely create the
partition. Since memory and disk were not mentioned I'll assume you have
sufficient quantities of both.

Hi all,
I am hoping somebody can shed some light on a scenario concerning current
IBM i licensing.
Suppose I already own Power hardware capable of hosting multiple IBM i
environments. Fast forward a month and I want to add another instance of
IBM i to the existing Power hardware. I don't want/need to buy additional
hardware - I just need to purchase new IBM i OS licenses.
What would the new IBM i instance cost? Note in this case it just needs
the
OS and DB2 (well, and PASE).
