Are they physically different cards? Or is that just the code the OS
reports it as? I got those numbers from the HMC.

So it sounds like you have dedicated adapters for your Linux install. I
ran into a similar situation when we were looking into our VIOS lpars. I
found I needed up manually update the firmware on the fiber IOA cards.
Coming from a world where that process is insulated from us, it was
strenuous getting the right levels and reading up on how to do it.
That said you may want to look at fix central.
Use "select product" and find "power I/o firmware". Find the feature
and your off to the races.cards
If in there you should find directions for install.
Good luck.

Ok, y'all know how there is firmware that goes on your FSP, right? And
you have an HMC it's best to use that, if not, and you have a singlelpar,
it's ok to flag that lpar as firmware controlling?
And you know how you put PTF's on IBM i that may also upgrade raid
Suse
etc (mostly the MF* series of PTF's)?but
Apparently there are firmware fixes for Linux that I wasn't aware of,
I guess this makes sense. We have this really old installation of
aLinux that they are trying to finally utilize the extra disks I put in
on
few months back and they're thinking it might be because the firmware
to
the raid card is rather old. The consultant was asking me if it's ok
case
upgrade the firmware on this raid card.
I always like those "do you have a spare raid card laying around in

this goes bad?" type of questions.list
