I suggest looking at QM queries and forms - that is a reporting tool, among other things, and you can convert from Query/400 to it nicely - there are a couple things to watch out for, you get messages that tell you this.

Query/400 combined data retrieval and presentation in one place - QM puts it into 2 object types, *QMQRY and *QMFORM.

So CRTSRCPF somelib/QQMQRYSRC RCDLEN(91) and CRTSRCPF somelib/QQMFORMSRC RCDLEN(162)

Then use RTVQMQRY to get a QMQRY from the *QRYDFN.

Then use RTVQMFORM to get the corresponding form from the *QRYDFN.

Then use CRTQMQRY and CRTQMFORM, or go into STRQM, if you have it. You can muck about there with things.

Use STRQMQRY to run things. You can use the system default form or specify the one you created.

QM uses the new query engine when it can, unlike Query/400, which is all CQE.

In the old Query/400 you can specify fields to break on, and have a total
if you want.
to convert this to SQL would you call this feature as
GROUP BY?
