This is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison.
PowerHA allows you to switch between locations during an outage at your
planned location. While down on 'site A' you can do maintenance there
including PTFs as needed. PowerHA has it's own flavors, some that use
the internal capability for IBM i to replicate an entire iASP and others
that rely on the SAN for that capability.
LPM allows you to move a partition, on the fly, between two POWER
systems. The thing here is that they are using the SAME DASD so if you
do switch you can't bring the 'primary' back up to do maintenance on it
because it has no disk. This is great for moving capacity around,
hardware maintenance and such but isn't really a High Availability
strategy on it's own.
LPM also has some fairly steep requirements such as 100.00% hosted
everything (DASD, COMM, Tape etc) VIOS is required as the hosting
partition, All DASD must be on SAN with NIiV capability. And I've likely
missed a few. :-)
