Thanks for the info. I haven't had the front cover off when it's
powered on; will there be a way to see what disk has failed? Or is it
just trial & error?
Thank you very much for the info,

This is telling me that you have the base NON-raid card in the machine.
That card is apparently reporting in OK.
The system has identified a disk unit that has failed.
It's very probable that said disk unit is the Load Source disk because
it stopped dead.
You definitely need the console hooked up no matter what the issue is
but in this case I doubt you'll see anything there although it is
possible that if the load source disk is good but another unit has
failed that you would see an error on the screen because in this case
the LIC would have loaded before the system halted. Without a console it
tries to IPL and no matter how few disks have failed the 675A has no

First off, I'd like to say that this group seems like a great bunch of
smart folks; I've been watching the list for a while now and would like
to say thanks for all the handy information that I've gotten already.
I'm almost somewhat embarrassed to ask for assistance here with such an
old machine, as well as being very new to these systems as well. I

I can and hopefully take that to a job someday.
I found an old 9406-170 locally and have been collecting what I need to
access the machine at home. I'm waiting for some baluns to finally
connect my 3476 terminal to the machine to see what it's complaining
Currently, when power is applied, the code displayed on the panel seems
to tell me that the battery has died. I don't recall the code at the
moment. Powering on the system takes a few moments with many codes
displayed, but it finally settles on 675a3200, with no processor
activity, and the attention light on. I believe this code relates to a
disk failure; but I'm curious; if no O/S is found, will it display the
same code? Will the system battery being dead cause IPL issues?
Many thanks in advance,
