There's only one thing I miss from 9" reels - the ability to either
physically see, or, see a bar graph on the drive as to how full the tape
is. With a tape library, loaded full of tapes, it's not such a big deal,
but when you're doing a one tape at a time machine knowing that the tape
is almost full and you shouldn't dash out to grab a sandwich until the
tape is changed can be useful.
