Re: SAP and Unicode

fixed

Doug,

I do IBM i and Power Systems Support for a very large SAP customer. They moved to ECC6.0 with Unicode about the time they moved to IBM i 6.1 a couple years ago. From an IBM i administrator point of view I only needed to install 5770SS1 option 39 "International Components for Unicode". Additionally when they made that move we upped disk requirements considerably as well as memory for the SAP Partitions. The IBM SAP Competency center calculated the additional disk and memory for us. I can't say what's involved on the SAP Side but from my point of view it's simple!

We are looking to put up a new version (ECC6) of SAP that will have unicode. I have never dealt with unicode.

Does this require anything at the i5/OS level or does SAP totally handle it?

Thanks
- DH
