David,
As Pete suggested there is Systems Director Navigator to use and that is
a great tool, but unfortunately that does not include one of the most
important tools (nor will it due to the reliance on the Windows OS to do
the graphics) the Database tools. SQL scripts are but a very minor
component of those tools that allow you to design, create, and manage
DB/2 in a graphical environment. A short list of the things you can do
is mange constraints, check pending constraints, manage index rebuilds,
SQL performance Monitors, SQL Plan cache tools and more. Much of this
can be done from a green screen but even for a command line zealot like
myself, I find using the graphical tools much easier. One of my more
favorite parts is the ability to create a UML like database map that
shows all the relationships between the database objects. I hesitate to
call it a Data flow Diagram but that is really what it is meant to
mimic. You can maintain that in other tools, (I use Enterprise
Architect) but this one is included with the system.
If V6R1 is on your system, you already have the code needed, (it's
stuffed into the IFS "/QIBM/ProdData/Access/Windows") Run the
cwblaunch.exe and it will take it from there. If the PTFs on the system
are current then the fix packs will already be installed, otherwise it's
easy to get them from the internet. both the 32bit and 64bit versions
are there.

I can no longer execute sql scripts with iNav. I'm presuming that this is because of missing PTF or the wrong version of iNav. About iSeries Navigator shows Version 5 release 4 modification level 0. Our OS is V6R1. Is this compatible?
As developers, we had to battle to get the right to use iNav as it was considered a tool for the system people only. Now, I find I'm only using it for working with spool files as little else works.
I want to make a list to argue my case for upgrading this tool. What features of iNav would you consider most useful from a DEVELOPER's point of view?
