You can set stuff in SystemDefault.properties, sure... but that's a Java property, not an environment variable.

The OP had copy/pasted a job log message that specifically referred to an environment variable.

I guess it's worth checking SystemDefault.properties (in your home directory as well as the system-wide one) but it doesn't sound like that's what his message was referring to.

that I've seen... and manipulation of the file has been recommended by IBM
to solve some (forgotten) problems in the past.
