subject: running commands in restricted state -- will this work?

Hi, everyone:

A client of ours has a small model 170 running V5R2 ... it uses a genunie IBM twinax console (so we cannot access the console for that system remotely, e.g. when it is running in 'restricted state').

Recently, they saw some error messages indicating that they need to do a RCLRSC *DBXREF ...

Can we automate this by adding some code to their QSTRUP *PGM to invoke the RCLRSC *DBXREF before it starts up any subsystems, so that, the next time they IPL, this will happen automatically?
Thanks,

Mark S. Waterbury

For future use, consider replacing the twinax console with a pc containing an emulator card. Then you can access the pc using PC Anywhere, VNC, Microsoft, whatever your flavor of remote control is and be system console from wherever you prefer.

I have this setup in my pc and I use client access for normal daily work. When I need to be system console, I fire up the boasnova plus stuff (connected to port 0, address 0) and I am system console from home.

Even so, I still have one twinax terminal I keep Re:in the back room, just in case.
