Of course. Takes about 1-2 hours on the machines i usually work on.
But that's just the LIC.

And as far as avoiding the ptf problem, with a recent RESAVE the hope is
that the ptf would be applied or superceeded in the base and therefore
it's application would be a non issue.

For MF# PTFs, yes. But the issue here was an OS PTF (SI#).

The last time i did a complete OS wipe/reload on a 9405-520 with two
arms, it took roughly two days till the machine was up again (in the
lab, so i wasn't always in front of the console).

Just reinstalling the OS on a working machine would probably be less
time consuming, but i don't really see why that would be preferable
over just installing the PTFs.
