At home I've built some racks before out of particle board.
Particleboard? Way too friable, even with special fasteners.
The price was right, it was sturdy, and in better shape than the plywood
the store had. Did I mention that the price was right? It was real messy
to work with, producing a ton of dust when cut. I just wanted a cabinet
for rack-mount drawers. It's too bad that I didn't consider the end-table
option. At best my cabinets could only be considered an inadequate
hassock. Still, it functions for my purpose.
