This is the part that confuses me. IBM has great articles at its
AlphaWorks site, and puts a lot of work into open source software and
Linux. Why aren't the Rational tools, iSeries Navigator, Client Access,
etc. available for Linux or OS X?

Is it the perception that it's OK for the back room to run Linux, but
the system administration must be Windows-based? For Linux, is it a
toolset issue between KDE, Gnome, and other window managers? Is it the
assumption that most businesses already run Windows on the desktop, so
it's too expensive/not popular enough to code for Linux or OS X?

The day the Rational
products run on Linux, I'm probably off of Windows for good. An IBM i
solution with Linux workstations is a really attractive option, in my
opinion.
