update when you add another index to a PF. So it is a classic
tradeoff. And if possible, they are sharing indexes to the nines.
That minimizes the access path update issue.

Indexes are never a problem because the AS/400 automatically shares the
index of an existing file, even a partial index. The only issue I have
seen is that it will not share the index if one is the old type index
and the other is the new terabyte indexes.

Normally when you are creating a field select logical, it is only used
to bring in the fields the program needs. The index is usually already
created.
