Marco

I don't understand the problem, so I will ask some questions

What wildcards? Wildcards can be used in file name in all the different file systems within the IFS.

Oh, maybe you mean odd characters in the text file? Not the name?

What kinds of data does you query have - any packed fields?

What kind of query - there are different kinds of query on the iSeries - Query/400 queries, SQL statements on their own or using Query Management queries. Is the query result in a physical file or in a spooled file?

What command are you using to copy to the text file? You are probably using CPYTOPCD - this requires using QDLS - this is very old - don't use it if possible. For copying from a physical file (query result?), use CPYTOIMPF.

Or are you using IFS APIs, as Scott Klement has shown?

QDLS is clearly NOT the solution here - or if it has worked, not the BEST answer. It has so many problems.

Vern

It seems using QDLS is the only way to copy my query results into txt
files without having wildcards.

Because my problem is that I need to copy a query result to a txt file.
I can do it (with this forum support) to a windows folder. The problem
is that some information don't appear ok, because instead of data (text
or number) appears wildcards.

Marco,

Do NOT use QDLS unless you absolutely have to.

I create a share folder in QDLS. I can reach it from windows, I can even
delete folders, but I tried to copy a file into there and it didn't
allow me. The error was, DOS command error.

I have full permitions.

Thanks,
Marco
