There are many problems with QDLS - as others have pointed out. I'm surprised you can even see it from Windows, because it requires being enrolled in the iSeries system directory to work with it. The user with which you log in has to be in the system directory, which you get to using WRKDIRE.

Besides that, it is slow, and you are limited to 8.3 naming - as in original DOS.

So as someone else said, avoid QDLS if at all possible. If you are required somehow to use it, let us know. I believe some older commands insist on a file in this part of the IFS.
